Financial issues can be so confusing and sometimes it’s hard to tell if you are doing it right - or just doing it... Join J.T. Mullen and Wendy Horton in a 30 minute webinar as they discuss important fiscal responsibilities and controls and how those responsibilities should be carried out at the board and management levels. In part 2, they will review governance structures for fiscal issues, and responsibilities related to budget and planning, audit and institutional investments.
J. T. Mullen joined Fairport Asset Management in 2011, bringing more than 30 years of experience as a highly regarded investment and finance professional. As Chief Investment Strategist, J.T. provides leadership and strategic oversight to Fairport’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining Fairport, J.T. was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at The Cleveland Foundation, the second largest community foundation in the country. As Chief Financial Officer, he was responsible for managing both the Foundation's investments and its internal financial function. J.T. joined the Cleveland Foundation in 1987 as Controller and was named Chief Financial Officer five years later. He retired from the Foundation in 2010.
Wendy Horton CPA is a Senior Advisor to the Community Foundation field. She launched Community Foundation Insights (CF Insights) in 2006 as an initiative of the Council on Foundations and FSG Social Impact Advisors. CF Insights serves community foundations through online operating model benchmarking and analysis, activity-based cost analysis, economic scenario planning, technical assistance, and primary research. Before launching CF Insights, she was the Special Assistant to the President of a $3.5 billion mutual fund company and also served for nine years as the Chief Financial Officer of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation
