We are saying farewell to Bob Lowen (Heartland CF) and Melinda Olson (Thomas County CF) and we are greeting Tammy McClellan and Karla Haggard to our KACF Family!

After four years with the beautiful Heartland Community Foundation Bob Lowen, executive director, has decided it's time to slow down and work on his golf game.Bob said, “It’s been a great ride but it’s time to hand over the reins to another person who loves Hays and our surrounding communities as much as I do. Our organization, thanks to wonderful donors and diligent oversight, has grown into a viable, important entity that has done and will do great things for Ellis, Trego and Rooks counties.”

Tammy McClellan was named the new Executive Director of the Heartland Community Foundation. Tammy was the founder and owner of Simply Charmed, a downtown Hays women’s boutique for 10 years until selling the establishment in 2013. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism and mass communications from Kansas State University. She currently serves on the board of the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce and volunteered as a board member with the Heartland Community Foundation for the past four years. McClellan and her husband Mike are the parents of four daughters and farm in Rooks and Graham counties.

Karla Haggard, who had been the Administrative Assistant at Thomas County Community Foundation since August 2012, recently took over as the new Executive Director, replacing Melinda Olson. Melinda had been Director for over 6 years but resigned her position. Melinda and her family moved to Nebraska.

Bob and Melinda were active KACF members and will be missed. Bob and Melinda, thank you for your input in developing philanthropy in Kansas! May you enjoy the rest of your journey!
