Give Local America is inspiring philanthropic collaboration across the state of Kansas!

The KACF has secured a grant from the Kansas Health Foundation to support ten "hubs' of community foundation partnerships across the state. Groups of two or more community foundations will be encouraged to work together and participate in Give Local America, set for May 6, 2014. KACF Reimbursement Program will cover the cost of the custom giving websites that will be built for this national day of giving. KACF will administer the grants and provide its members with the training and support they need to host a successful giving day with help from the Give Local America staff.
KACF Executive Director Svetlana Hutfles reports that the Giving/Matching Day Model has proven to be successful in communities of various sizes in Kansas, which encouraged KACF to act fast and approach its funder with the suggestion to incentivize Kansas community foundations to partner up and tap into this historic day of giving with added value of national publicity and national match.
The Council on Foundations and the Community Foundations Leadership team have partnered with Kimbia for Give Local America - a project of the 2014 CF Centennial Celebration - to create increased community foundation awareness and highlight the importance of local community work. Give Local America is a national giving event (based on the Match/Giving Day model) with local impact. Community foundations across America will ask people to give back through local giving events that will take place in hundreds of communities, all on the same day (May 6, 2014). Every gift will go directly to individual community foundations and will be amplified with matching funds from a national pool being raised by Give Local America.
Besides raising funds, community foundations will be able to collaborat with local non-profit organizations and their stakeholders, and expose the concept of CFs and endowment to their communities.
