Peer Learning Event for Western Kansas Alliance of Community Foundations Very ENGAGING
10/25/2011 - Scott Community Foundation
Scott City, Kansas was the site for the "Engaging Your Communities" Peer Learning Event funded by the Kansas Association of Community Foundations. Those attending the event were "Engaged" right away when they received their LED Diamond Ring! The day continued with board members and staff finding out just how much they knew about their Community Foundation by playing the "Newly Board Game". While no one was hit with a card for getting the wrong answer, the winning team did win a fabulous prize to help engage their donors. A presentation on Storytelling was then shared with everyone as part of the storytelling presentation everyone divided into groups and told stories about their Community Foundation related to every day items like a paperclip, lip gloss and scissors. It was a great way to practice the new skills they had learned. During lunch, round table discussions were held. The discussion questions were based on successes and struggles the Community Foundations in attendance were having. A panel of Professional Advisors kicked off the afternoon. Individuals were able to ask direct questions and get advice from some of the areas professional advisors and learn first hand what it takes to get through their doors. Ken Wassermann shared his expertise with the group on estate planning and transfer of assets. The day was rounded out with a spirited game of the "Dating Game", how to date your donor!!! There were great tips and ideas to show your donor you appreciate them from your first meeting forward.
