Exciting opportunity for KACF community foundations to celebrate your community heroes (Kansans working to make our state stronger - resilient frontline workers and those behind the scenes fighting COVID-19; leaders in the movement for racial change; trailblazers in the community) and, if selected, receive a $10,000 gift from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Pathways to a Healthy Kansas for community foundation’s COVID-19 relief fund or work to improve racial or health inequities.

BCBSKS Pathways to a Healthy Kansas has launched the #AdAstraStrong social campaign with KACF community foundations! BCBSKS asks community foundations to share their own stories with #AdAstraStrong and #BCBSKS and encourages your community partners to do the same. BCBSKS will then pick five stories that are shared to highlight in their weekly blog. These community foundations will receive up to a $10,000 donation from BCBSKS Pathways to a Healthy Kansas.

The campaign will run June 19 - August 1.

Please remember to use both #AdAstraStrong and #BCBSKS so that BCBSKS could track your stories and select five CFs - gift recipients.
See details in the attached document (above).

Purpose:

On May 6, 2020 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas launched the #AdAstraStrong campaign to recognize the many stars in our communities that have been serving on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since that time, a lot has happened in our world causing us to expand our focus beyond COVID-19 to stars working for racial equity, community improvements and leadership, health equity and social determinants of health, and the list goes on.

Ad Astra Per Aspera is the official state motto for Kansas. "To the stars through difficulty" is a sentiment that has never felt more true than today. It emphasizes our values and optimism that, even when faced with the most difficult hardships, we come together as a state and keep our sights set on what's important. With tenacity, humbleness and perseverance, we can get through this, together.

As a company rooted in Kansas for nearly 80 years, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas has deep ties to our communities. During these times when many are struggling, we want to showcase those Kansans who are stepping up and making a difference.

These are some of the best examples of help, hope and inspiration.

#AdAstraStrong is a campaign we've launched to salute Kansans working to make our state stronger - resilient frontline workers and those behind the scenes fighting COVID-19; leaders in the movement for racial change; trailblazers in the community. To shine a light on these stars, we're asking you to share stories of those you know who are making a difference.

Post to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter using #AdAstraStrong #BCBSKS. Encourage your community partners and neighbors to do the same!

To bring greater awareness to the campaign, elevate those stars that deserve recognition, and to increase the support of their work across Kansas, BCBSKS Pathways to a Healthy Kansas will choose five (5) stories to highlight and share on our blog and make a donation of up to $10,000 to each of those community foundations.

Eligibility:

  • KACF member community foundation
  • Community foundation in BCBSKS service areas (Kansas counties except Johnson and Wyandotte)
  • Community foundation must promote the #AdAstraStrong campaign through materials provided by BCBSKS
  • BCBSKS gift must go to the community foundation’s COVID-19 relief fund or work to improve racial or health inequities
