About KACF: Kansas Community Foundations

A community foundation is a tax-exempt, nonprofit, autonomous, publicly supported, nonsectarian philanthropic institution with a long-term goal of building permanent, named component funds established by many separate donors to carry out their charitable interests and for the broad-based charitable interest of and for the benefit of residents of a defined geographic area.

Kansas community foundations are the leading charitable giving resource in Kansas that help individuals, families, and businesses plan and carry out their charitable giving. By collaborating with donors, professional advisors, and nonprofit agencies, Kansas community foundations foster greater giving in local communities and contribute to the preservation of wealth in Kansas for the sustainability and prosperity of local communities.

Kansas community foundations are created by and for the people in local areas. Community foundations enable people with philanthropic interests to easily and effectively support the issues most important to them – immediately, or through a bequest. With help from those who care about Kansas, community foundations build endowments to ensure that grants are always available to support Kansas communities and their charitable causes.

Community foundations provide:

  • Personalized service, tools and resources that fit donors charitable interests and community needs and make giving easy, flexible, and effective;
  • Local expertise and in-depth understanding of community challenges as well as the groups and individuals addressing them;
  • Community leadership in addressing community needs, now and in the future.
