Join us for “Telling the Story” the theme of this year’s Kansas Association of Community Foundation’s Annual Conference (KACF). The KACF Conference Committee is excited to be bringing you the premiere event of the year with two sensational plenaries:

The legendary Jay Allison, a national star in the Public Media world will jump-start the conference. Jay understands the power of storytelling and will share his experiences in how stories can build communities and trust. Jay is an award-winning independent broadcast journalist and producer who has done hundreds of series and stories on public radio. "This I Believe" "Stories from the Heart of the Land" and "The Moth" as just a few examples.

Joe Lumarda, the Conference’s closing plenary speaker, will examine the demography and psychology of donors in light of the unsettling economic environment and how we will need to conduct business in order to meet donors’ needs. Joe is bringing us the unique experience as a world-renowned community foundation practitioner and a senior vice president and investment counselor for Capital Group Private Client Services and a vice president of Capital Guardian Trust Company, a Nevada Corporation. Joe spent 16 years at the California Community Foundation as a program officer, vice president for development and executive vice president and chief operating officer.

The 25 concurrent sessions include stories from a variety of different lenses, from finance to leadership to the hot topic of impact investment. There are sessions for board members, executive directors, and program and finance staff. Additionally, there is a track specifically for newer foundations, as well as advanced sessions. Topics include:

  • asset development and sustainability
  • programs
  • marketing
  • finance and technology
  • governance and leadership
  • public policy and advocacy
  • legal, legislative, and National Standards

This year the KACF Conference brings to you national speakers including: Kelly Shipp Simone, legal affairs with COF; Daria Teutonico, the new National Standards Director; Sandy Hughes, governance consultant; representatives from FIMS and Pearl; and KACF Faculty Judy Sjostedt and Wendy Horton; as well as regional speakers from the KC Consensus, Public Square, Kansas Leadership Center, and Kansas Health Foundation, and many of your peers and other experts from Kansas and neighboring states.
